Hi everyone! My name is Patti Lenzen and I am a one-woman operation based in Raleigh, NC.
I have been married to my husband, Luke, since 2013, and we have a son named Garrett and a puppy named Lucy who both keep us busy.

I began making pottery in my home studio in 2015, but before that I enjoyed exploring ceramics through a studio in Chapel Hill and at NC State University.
Being able to use a wide variety of tools and materials has allowed my approach and style to evolve over the years. I've found that, recently, I tend to steer toward anything whitewashed (hence the company name), chipped paint, or patina--which is a bright copper-type glaze.
I often find myself distressing my pottery much like I distress a piece of old furniture after it has been painted.

About My Materials
I primarily use 2 clay bodies--China White and Speckled Brownstone. These are purchased locally from a fantastic studio called Claymakers in downtown Durham, NC. Once the clay has been fired to cone 6 approximately 2200°F, the white clay resembles the color of my grandmother's antique china plates. The brownstone clay pops with the sweetest little speckles and "freckles" as I lovingly call them.

In order to stay true to my desired antique look & simplistic style, I tend to primarily use 3 main colors for my glaze: Antique White, Slate Black, and Perfect Patina.
Of course variety can be easily created by adding texture, color accents, and splashes of antique Gold.
About My Process

When it comes to creating pieces, I always try to let the clay decide what it wants to be. I feel like my process for creating anything is very organic and, therefore, each of my products is an archetype.
Even when I am trying my best to create a set of similar items each one turns out to have wonderful variations. One of the many reasons why I love pottery is that each item that I have in stock is completely different and unique!
